Every woman loves black. Why? It's universally flattering and most of all it's EASY. When life gets busy, wardrobe choices are made simple if you know you have a variety of black combinations to reach for. Sometimes we want to change it up but have become so used to our raven coloured ways that we are unsure where to go and most importantly are unsure if we will actually wear the new hue we dared to try. Here are my top tips on how to add some variety to your collection without feeling as though you have dressed like a rainbow.

  • Sometimes jumping straight to white can feel like a harsh change. Try looking for colours with similar depth, eg. navy, grey, khaki or tan. These tones are just as versatile plus will layer beautifully with your black staples.

  • Accessorise. If that pink top or blue dress still just doesn't feel "you" go back to black and bring in colour another way. Scarves are easy to throw on and liven any ensemble.

  • Get playful with prints. Look for ones that have black as a base colour so you don't feel to far out of your comfort zone. Plus you can always layer them with a dark jean, legging or jacket.

  • "If it ain't broke don't fix it". At the end of the day if black is your colour of choice - go for it! Embrace it and don't feel you need a multi coloured closet just because floral is trending currently. Comfort and self confidence are far more important.
